Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Diers

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Diers, 84, of Roseville passed away on Monday May 21, 2012 at 9:50 am at the Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center. She was born in Monmouth on April 10, 1927, the daughter of Earle and Elizabeth Ann Henderson Hickman. On March 5, 1949, she married Kenneth P. Diers in Monmouth and they were married for 63 years. They resided in rural Smithshire and Raritan.

Betty graduated from Monmouth High School and attended Monmouth College. Before her marriage, she worked at Monmouth Lumberyard that was owned by her family. Betty and Kenny farmed east of Raritan for more than 50 years.

Besides her husband Kenny, Betty is survived by her daughter, Paula (Roy) Robinson of Carlinville, IL. Two grandchildren: Erin (Jeff) Robinson Lockwood, Girard, IL and Michael Robinson, Carlinville, IL. One great-grandson: Mason Lockwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ruth Hickman Clark.

Betty was a member of the Raritan Reformed Church and Pricilla Women’s Organization. Also, Betty was an active member of the Roseville American Legion Auxiliary, Raritan Fireman Auxiliary, and the The Daughters of the American Revolution - Chief Shaubena Chapter. She was a former member of the Roseville Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed music, and was a soloist at Monmouth High School and College and enjoyed reading.

Cremation Rites have been accorded and graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Roseville American Legion or the Raritan Fire Department. Online Condolences may be made at www.cormanmh.com . Corman Memorial Home in Roseville is in charge of arrangements.
